PURE Bioscience, Rexahn Pharma, Zale Corp Make Big Pops

PURE Bioscience (Nasdaq: PURE) 59.4% HIGHER; shares are continuing higher today following yesterday’s news that the company received U.S. EPA registration for its SDC-based disinfectant and food contact surface sanitizer. The stock was up about 24% yesterday. Also notably, the stock has broken over what appeared to be an area of resistance at the $2 level. Shares of PURE have not traded over $3 since early January of 2009.

Rexahn Pharma (AMEX: RNN) 22.4% HIGHER; the stock has broken over the $2 level for the first time since mid 2008. With volume about 3x heavier-than-normal today, technicians are likely giving some attention to the volatile stock today.

Jacada Ltd. (NASDAQ: JCDA) 20.3% HIGHER; today announced that it has entered into a material agreement with a new customer, a large U.S.-based provider of digital television services. Click here to see the full report.

Houston American Energy (Nasdaq: HUSA) 20.2% LOWER; traders are selling the stock today amid a SeekingAlpha article entitled “Houston American Energy Priced for Perfection”.

Zale Corp. (NYSE: ZLC) 19.5% HIGHER; late last night Bloomberg reported rumors that the company is considering the sale of a $100-$150 million minority stake in itself and that the bidding is down to 3 finalists.

Palm (Nasdaq: PALM) 19.5% HIGHER; hearing the same-old “takeover speculation” rumors today. While we are hearing reports that a new bidder, Lenovo, has entered the “talks,” I’m a skeptic.

Tix Corp. (Nasdaq: TIXC) 16.9% HIGHER; once shares of Tix jumped over the $1.30ish resistance level today the stock took off and volume increased, always a good sign for technical analysts.

Zanett (Nasdaq: ZANE) 14.4% LOWER; following a nearly 80% jump yesterday, shares are selling-off today amid some financing news. Click here to see the full report. Some downside could likely also be attributed to profit-taking.

Exceed Company Ltd. (NASDAQ: EDS) 10.9% LOWER; this morning reported FY09 results: sales of RMB2.078 billion ($304M), up 14.2% from the RMB1.82 billion reported in ’08, EPS rose 9% to RMB10.83 ($1.59).

Star Scientific (Nasdaq: CIGX) 9.8% LOWER; announced today that it has completed a “Research and Royalty Agreement” with the Roskamp Institute’s affiliate, SRQ Bio, LLC, under which the Institute will conduct research on a compound developed by the company’s Rock Creek Pharmaceutical subsidiary that medical researchers at the Institute believe may have an application in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. Check out the press release for full details on the preliminary findings.

Applied Energetics (Nasdaq: AERG) 7.9% LOWER; today is looking like it will be the first day in 7 trading sessions in which the stock will close in the red. Traders are likely taking profits today after running up by more than 90% since March 26.
